Vampire Diaries 2.05: Kill or Be Killed

MY GIRLS ARE OKAY AGAIN. \o/ I wanted so much for Caroline and Elena to stop having secrets and be friends again and they did and this show is the BEST. I was filled with squishy happy feelings. <3

Also why is Mason still here, I don't get it. I don't care about him! I'm warming up to Tyler a bit (probably because they kept him in the dark the past few episodes and that's a pretty sure way to gain my sympathy because I hate it when characters do that) but there are too many Lockwoods on this show. I vote he dies and all his screentime is given to Bonnie.

Which comes to my major problem with this episode (and this season). WHERE IS BONNIE BENNETT? Why is this show all about hiding my girl? At this point they're not even bothering with explanations! She's not off with her aunt or whatever, she's just not there. >( And I am extra irritated because Mason The World's Dullest Douchiest Werewolf gets so much time while she only gets called in when they need her magic. I was under the impression she was actually part of the main cast here.

But aside from that I really liked this episode. I loved that so much stuff came out into the open, that Caroline confessed to Elena about Katherine and that Liz found out about the Salvatores. And that Liz is Damon's friend. Because pretty much everyone Damon cares about is someone who has tried to kill him at one point or another. 8D

Also Stefan continues to be the best Salvatore, trying to clean up his brother's messes and maintaining TV's most solid relationship with Elena. I love those two SO MUCH. They talk about their problems! They support each other! Katherine is obviously knife sharp but even she isn't going to be able to cut those two apart.

Just want to say, totally called it on the Katherine-Mason connection. Well okay I didn't here because I haven't talked about TVD for awhile but I was totally thinking it. I knew there was no way she came back just for Stefan (and I am loving the fact that absolutely no one the show believes it either).

Last thought: Caroline curb stomping Mason was a thing of beauty. If he's going to be sticking around for awhile I want it to happen every episode.

I feel like I am the most predictable ever, because I get this same way with Merlin when Gwen isn't around, but WHERE IS BONNIE, I CAN'T ENJOY EN EPISODE FULLY WHEN SHE DOESN'T SHOW UP. I'm worried that she'll only be brought in when they need her to do a spell, particularly now she's estranged from Caroline (and they don't seem to be doing anything about that wtf) and she can't be around Elena and Caroline at the same time, presumably.

And objectively the ep was fine, but I don't care about the werewolf shenanigans when Bonnie is ostensibly a regular character but isn't getting the material she deserves during a time when all of her relationships need work, frankly.

The Katherine/Mason connection was one of the less surprising twists of the show, by TVD's standard. They're usually better at that.

I read some spoilers over on thewitchgoddess that indicate she might be getting some focus again in the next two episodes? But I'm not counting on anything until I see them. I'm worried they're going down the spells only route too. :/ I think it's just our bad luck to have favourites that end up being underutilized in both Merlin and TVD. So you're only predictable inasmuch as these shows are predictable in their bad choices.
