I haven’t posted about the whole Burn a Quran Day fiasco because to be honest, I don’t really want to think about it. I’ve already talked to people about it offline, I don’t particularly feel like having to do the same on lj. This youtube video expresses my feelings pretty well though.

Date: 2010-09-11 05:02 pm (UTC)There was a good response on the news in Australia where it was one of the questions discussed after the 'Yay! Eid!' news coverage (hush, I'm an atheist, almost all religious holidays fall into the Yay! or Woe! categories from what I can tell.) One of the leading Imams here said 'We will respond with nothing, because Islam is not a religion of vengeance, and he is not worthy of a response', which I thought was a great soundbite.
Even the commercial channels (more prone to lunacy) ran long 'Yay Eid!' pieces and very tiny 'Whoa, Freaky American Religious Loony, EEEK!' pieces.
