Mini-Review: Take the Lead

So. Take the Lead is all about how a guy played by Antonio Banderas teaches some inner city kids how to ballroom dance. And it is wonderful.
Requisite disclaimer: I am a sucker for 'mentor figure helps out troubled kids through sports/arts' movies. I also (secretly) love dance movies. Don't tell my parents the second one: there would be trouble.
I love the kids in this movie! There was so much affection between everyone: I would have totally subtitled it 'The One Where Everybody Loves Each Other, Sometimes in Deeply Hilarious Ways'.
I'm trying to figure out what counts as a spoiler for a movie like this. Because on the one hand, it's not exactly full of suspense so I'm inclined to think nothing? And I sort of want to squee in detail. But I have been growled at for things I did not think were spoilers in the past so I don't know.
Ehh, vague squeeing it is. So let's list things this movie has to recommend it.
- Antonio Banderas (or Zorro!)
- Lots of v. attractive people
- Ballroom dancing
- Hip-hop dancing
- One boy who does something deeply stupid but no worries, it all turns out well in the end!
- One of the most fun resolutions to a love triangle I have ever watched.
- V. v. adorable relationships
- A happy ending
What more could you ask for? Go watch it. Maintenant.

That was one of the most funniest resolutions to a love triangle. No one really got hurt. XD

Date: 2009-01-31 12:02 am (UTC)Also, I laughed so hard at the scene where the white kid just strolls into Antonio Banderas' apartment and starts eating. And Antonio is all 'what, what is this, when I said Rock could stay for the night I did NOT mean the stage is set for a teenage free for all!' And the white kid just starts going on about his ANGST because he likes Big Girl. xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD So so awesome.
