Movies
10. Breaking Dawn Part I (April 25) – 2 stars
Oh my God. I have to go curl up in my bed and reread Ella Enchanted and find someone to cuddle me. This movie was like twenty levels of body horror. DDDDD: My brain needs cleaning and it needs it now.
Great soundtrack though.
11. Young Adult (April 27) – 4 stars
Excellent character study of someone who lives up to the movie's title in her arrested development. I'm happy something like this got made, I can't think of very many movies willing to write a complex female antihero without trying to redeem her. Mavis is narcissistic and awful throughout and she doesn't change. It makes for an interesting rom com deconstruction all around.
12. The Three Musketeers (April 30) – 3.5 stars
A highly entertaining piece of cheese. :D I've got to read this book. I understand it probably has a much lower ratio of airships and explosions but the melodrama and double crossing will definitely be worth the price of entry. Plus I hear Milady is even better in the book. :D

Date: 2012-05-03 12:33 pm (UTC)I have been wondering whether I should pick up Durara, and I am ... currently still not sure. (Also, I remember being horrified, literally horrified at the first volume of Black Bird.)
New Moon almost turned me off Twilight for good, and considering how much effort I have put into having goodwill toward Twilight, that is saying a lot. But the bit with the blood in the Styrofoam cup was legitimately wonderful (I can't believe I just typed that sentence).
The Three Musketeers is amazing, and I don't think two hours would ever be adequate for doing justice to the badassery that is Milady.

Date: 2012-05-03 04:24 pm (UTC)Durara's kind of middle of the fence. I have no idea if I'd recommend it or not yet because I don't know what the storyline is. I think it has potential though so I'm giving it another volume. (So was I. And yet I continue. ;_; It would be nice if my library would stop buying terrible series because I have this inexplicable urge to keep reading whenever one is easily available)
xDDDD Twilight has made me say many things I never expected to! I have never before thought I would have to discuss the perils of a werewolf falling in love with a baby as a plot point and yet. I actually thought back when I was reading Breaking Dawn that they'd have to hire a director experienced with horror movies for it but still. Bella's pregnancy: even more horrifying on the big screen!
