So I didn't like TVD as much as usual this week? =( Bad show, bad, you're supposed to be awesome returning from a hiatus. But I will forgive you for now because I've missed you.

TOO MUCH DAMON IN THIS EPISODE. When it hit the end and he murdered that lady for NO REASON AT ALL? I was like Bonnie should kill him now. Or Elena! Or they could team up to stake him, omg I would love that. It would fix alot of my problems with this show if they'd stop trying to do a redemptive!arc with Damon and have everyone collectively be like yeah okay, he has killed TOO MANY people, it is time for him to go. They could have Stefan angsting over the fact that he has to kill his brother! I would find this 100 times more palatable than the Epic Manpain of Damon Killer Salvatore.

I was trying to decide whether I liked the werewolf woman or not but you know what? She appeared to actually be using her head this episode and it was refreshing. (Tell Elena to stay with the unstable vampire who hates her doppleganger. That was a super intelligent plan Damon!) So she can stay. Maybe she'll break Katherine out of the tomb and do a temporary Enemy of My Enemy truce. They could trade tips on the various ways of taking down Damon Salvatore! I will settle for this in lieu of Team Actually Good People killing him.

(It's possible I really just want Katherine back on screen and am hoping for any scenarios leading to this)

This gif is slightly incongruous in tone but it's the only one I have of her. Does anyone have a gif of that time she set Damon on fire? Because it is far more representative of what I hope she will do in future episodes. He broke her No Killing People truce, she'd absolutely be justified.

P.S. I really really need Luka and his dad to live through the season because TVD's track record with killing black guys is offically worse than Merlin's. As soon as I saw the cleaning guy I groaned because I knew what was coming. :/ Bonnie addendum: we should meet her dad and he should be alive.

SERIOUSLY WTF. The second he appeared I was like "ohhhh, it sucks to be you on this show." Have they ever had a POC they didn't abuse, munch, or murder?

Bonnie? And umm...actually it's just Bonnie. I'm running through the list in my head and they either die, or are oneshot characters who disappear soon after (her cousin's still alive and not evil which was a nice change). :/ TVD's race issues is one of the things I'm most bitter about. Can't we have someone live just once? Would it have been so hard to not kill Anna in the vampire roundup?

And it occurs to me now Anna's death got almost no focus and we had an entire episode on Rose dying. :l NICE TVD.

No, Damon munched her too, remember? And killed her grandmother. And killed Gina Torres. And Caroline munched the black nurse and killed the black guy at the carnival. And now Rose has killed this black guy. Pearl died. Anna died. Harper died. The non-white party girl of Tyler's died.

It's getting so obvious I'm honestly surprised other people aren't commenting on it.

Oh right yeah, I was thinking mostly in terms of who's actually lived. She's gotten snacked on too though. :/ Seriously, race is the fastest indicator of who's going to get screwed over on this show.

I've seen some people comment on it? But there's also that usual thing where fandom prefers to pretend race issues don't exist and are like 'but LOTS of people die on TVD, there's no common denominator, remember that white teacher dude Damon killed earlier?' There was at least one kerfluffle about it on one of the major TVD ones, I don't remember which. (I kind of dropped alot of them after I got annoyed with the mainstream fandom)

Oh, do they? That's heartening. (I don't hang out in mainstream fandom either, I tend to disagree with 99% of what they say.)

Maybe if enough people make a stink about it, the writers will actually get a clue about their race issues.

Oh, God, Damon...what the...UGH. I was actually kind of liking him in this episode with how he was dealing with/treating Rose. AND THEN THE END. WTH. YOU DO NOT GET TO GO ON KILLING SPREES JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE UPSET, DAMON. ENOUGH.

It's like the writers forget she's actually supposed to be part of the main cast. T_T It's Gwen 2.0, my favourite never seems to match up with the showrunners.

Ugh the thing is I wasn't even surprised? Every single time Damon is hurt he lashes out and hurts other people. He did the same thing in the show opener, when Elena turned him down he killed her brother (one of the many reasons I can never ever buy Damon/Elena. Julie Plec makes me really nervous with her comments on the possibility. WHAT. I don't want them to be possible, I will probably quit watching the show if they ever actually go there).

Yes, yes. I was shipping Damon/Elena in S1, but the moment he killed her brother...I'm sorry, but NO. You don't date the guy who killed your brother. YOU JUST DON'T.

Or who raped one of your best friends or who killed your brother's old girlfriend... :/ And he just fails at really showing remorse! Like I was sort of comparing him to Chuck Bass when I was watching Gossip Girl season 2 a couple of weeks back and. Chuck apologized to Jenny for trying to rape her. He said he wouldn't move in with his adopted family because she shouldn't ever have to live with a guy who did that to her. Has Damon ever even apologized to Caroline? No. And he clearly intimidates her, I'm pretty sure the aggressive body language we saw in Rose was supposed to be kind of a callback to the viewers. I should never compare a potential love interest to Chuck Bass and think Chuck comes off better! Viable love interest, that is not how you write one.

Oh, yes, forgot about that. When I start a show I usually marathon it while doing something else (terrible, I know, but it's the truth), so I don't really pay too close attention. :-\ It wasn't until S2 that I finally was able to process everything, so that's why it was Jeremy's death that did it for me. But ick, yeah. That's a lot of...ick.

CHUCK. UGH. I can't ship Chuck/Blair and I can't understand those who do. He's such an ass to her. HE TRADED HER FOR HIS COMPANY. WTFH. NO. JUST NO.

Was that in season three? I've only seen the first two so far and I feel like the writers sort of flip flop on his character because they do see he's an incredibly screwed up individual but at the same time they want to maintain the fiction that he'd be capable of having a decent relationship with Blair. :/ I think they pay too much attention to fandom honestly. Just because Chair is the most popular ship doesn't mean writing it is a good idea.

Yep, that was in S3. That's pretty much where any possibility of my shipping it ended. I was already weary of the pairing because while they were both cruel to each other during the second half of S1, the way he treated her was unforgivable. Ugh.

Bonnie-free episodes don't usually interest me, especially not when they're about Damon's manpain. WHY WHY ROSE WHY

Also I refuse to get attached to Werewolf Chick because Damon will probably just kill her five episodes from now.
