I went to the library yesterday and borrowed like 16 books (putting the total up to 51 =D) and now looking at my bookshelf is making me so happy.

Books are my one true love, for serious. I don't even need to be reading them! Just seeing them. Being there. Being awesome. It's the BEST. \o/

Although I am mildly concerned that one day my mother is going to make good on her threat and just return them all to the library one day when I am not home. D= Man isn't it enough that I acknowledge I have a problem? I don't want to fix it! I like my problem!

Also if anyone wants any recs now is the time to hit me up. =D I just read three volumes of manga and one non-fiction yesterday, I am on a book ROLL.

EDIT: Robin Benway has new book out! About three sisters with supernatural powers! JOY AND HAPPINESS YAY YAY YAY. \o/ Today is my new favourite day.

Any genre preferences? Or should I just toss in a random selection of things I've read and liked lately? =D

My weaknesses are mystery, horror, and fantasy, but I'll take anything~

=DDDD Okay then! So first off is the book which I recommend to everyone EVER who shows even the slightest inkling of being interested in fantasy. The Orphan's Tales by Catherynne M. Valente. A young prince finds a girl in a garden with words tattooed all over her eyelids and she proceeds to tell him the stories she's read there. Think a thousand and one nights style fairy tales with stories weaving in and out of each other. I LOVE this book, it was one of my top reads last year. I was reading it during a particularly busy point in my school year so every time I started I'd be like 'okay I'm just going to read one story chapter! Maybe two! BUT NO MORE'

Never happened. xD Ran through the whole thing in two days. The first book is The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden and the second is The Orphan's Tales: In the cities of Coin and spice. Make sure to have both handy, you're going to want the sequel once you're done the first. I had to wait for it to come in from the library, it was agonizing. T_T

Okay, so now that I've safely got my favourite out of the way I'll just go with some of my recent reads! Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta is really good YA contemporary. I wouldn't classify it as a mystery but I do think it has some elements of one just in terms of the way the story reveals itself and how you can go back and see all the clues she left earlier. This one needs a little while to grow on you, she throws you into the story without infodumping and you kind of have to accept things until stuff starts to clear up. Payoff is completely worth it though.

Enchanted, Inc. by Shanna Swendson is cute new girl in New York City chick lit with bonus dustings of urban fantasy. Katie Chandler is hired at a spell testing company when they realize she's one of the few people in the world without a hint of magic in her. This is handy since it means spells don't work on her at all and she can do things like read over contracts to make sure no extra clauses have been magically hidden in there to screw the company over. It's a fun easy read and the ending involves saving the world through intellectual property law! I liked it enough that I picked up the sequel from the library today as part of my massive haul of books. =D

Three seems like a good number to stop at! If you want more let me know, I am all about sharing good reads. =D
