Revolutionary Girl Utena 1.01-1.02

themadpokerI have just spent the afternoon downloading the entire series of Revolutionary Girl Utena. Apparently in the movie someone turns into a car. =DD
Okay I'm kidding, I didn't actually just pick up an entire series for that. I read five volumes of the manga back in middle school, there was crack and fairytales and swordfights and Utena wanted to be a prince and ended up engaged to Anthy because her school was crazy and there was a cute monkey and basically I remember it all being pretty great.
But you know, I probably would have picked it up just for the person!car.
So! Saionji is just as much of a creeper as I remembered! Good on Utena for winning Anthy away from him, he was abusive and sucked. Though this whole Rose Bride system is kind of rife with potential for abuse, I can't remember if they ever explained why Anthy had to be engaged to whoever won a duel in the manga and I forgot or if I never got that far.
Utena is exactly as awesome I remember with her goal of being a prince and insisting on wearing the boys uniform and her ability to win all the ladies. =DDD I remember back in middle school loling endlessly at the way Touga put effort into actually hitting on people while Utena practically had her own personal harem by simple virtue of being so much cooler than him. Or maybe it was Akio who was always hitting on people, idk. My memories are blurred, middle school was a long time ago.
Not that much went down these first two episodes but I think things will probably get more interesting if I manage to maintain my attention span long enough for a couple more. Idk what's wrong with me, lately all I can manage is an episode or two of a show before jumping onto something else. Which is not really enough time for a proper story to build! I'm even having this problem with reading, I have like five books I'm at various stages in at the moment. :/ I miss being able to stick with things.
