Leave me a comment saying "interview me".
I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
Update your journal with the answers to the questions. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.
1. What fascinates you about politics?
The possibility to make the world better. I've always been interested in things like social justice and environmental activism -- I ran an environmental club for three years in my high school and I volunteered at pretty much any place that would have me -- and I think of politics as an arena where you can make tangible improvements on a larger stage. Look at Obama's healthcare reform! Politics can make a huge difference and that's why I find them interesting. And on an academic level I'm interested in how politics work. History was one of my favourite subjects in high school and man, political leaders and movements can really leave their marks on countries! So yeah: My Relationship to Politics summed up in one handy paragraph.
2. What is your dream job?
I don't knooooow. D= There is this vague checklist of things I want it to include: travel, some degree of involvement in the political communitty, possibly diplomacy, the occasional research and academic work since I like learning new things. Idk, an ambassador to the UN?
3. What is one thing you couldn't live without?
Let's ignore the obvious things like food and shelter because that would make this a boring question. I'm going to have to go with books. I can barely remember not being a reader, books have been a huge part of my life since I was a tiny thing. I think I fund a significant amount of my library's new acquisitions from my overdue fees alone (oh the woes of the girl whose eyes are bigger than her....wait that saying kind of falls apart here. BASICALLY I WANT MORE BOOKS THAN I CAN FEASIBLY READ IN A THREE WEEK TIMESPAN). I remember a point in high school where I realized I was spending so much time reading fanfiction that I barely had any books checked out from the library and then I freaked out because a Zeineb that does not have stacks of books around the room is a creepy stranger to me. Which led to me going overboard in my next visit but I didn't care! Too many books is significantly more acceptable to me than too little.
4. What's your comfort food?
Depends on the time/weather/mood. I'm pretty fond of tsebhi and injera when I haven't had it in awhile, it makes me feel all properly Eritrean again. =)
5. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Okay, when I was a bb!Zeineb I used to live in this apartment building in Etobicoke. My brother and I would play with the neighbour's kids Ramsey and Zeke. Down in the basement of this apartment building there was this sort of large storage room (there were these huge lockers allotted to each resident where you could put stuff). One of my earliest memories is of the four of us running about playing some combo game of hide-and-seek and tag around this area. My mom tells me this is impossible since we wouldn't have been left unsupervised like that but I remember what I remember! I am pretty fond of this memory, possibly because it is all tinged with pre-school era nostalgia. Other favourites include going up to the first grade classroom (junior kindergarten year) a few afternoons every week with this other boy in my class to play card games. I don't know why the first graders played card games so often but me and other!boy were identitifed as gifted so that was a thing we got to do. It was fun!
