Even More Blabbery
Mar. 9th, 2010 08:35 amMan, I don't even know what I'm going to do with myself when March Fandom Madness is done. >_> I'm just really pleased with how things are going so far! I mean there are some sad things like the fact that Liz Lemon is currently losing terribly against Sheldon Cooper (look people, I have seen the comments, obviously he is a cool geeky dude with excellent t-shirts. But Liz Lemon is also a geek and if she wins she will share all the hot dogs. CHOOSE WISELY) but for the greater part it is mostly made up of excellent candidates. Buffy Summers! Donna Noble! Dana Scully! Lorelai Gilmore! When did you get so awesome on me fandom? I APPROVE.
What song are you currently addicted to?
Coast of Carolina by Telekinesis. How so awesome Vampire Diaries Episode 10 soundtrack? HOW SO AWESOME?
What books are you currently reading?
Georgette Heyer's The Masqueraders. Regency crossdressing sibling shenanigans! Robin deciding he likes his lady friend and showing up at the masked ball in a ~mysterious mask~ to dance the night awayin a swirl of rose petals. She thinks he seems familiar but she can't quite grasp from where! Prudence being like ':/ Robin, are you being entirely virtuous here? There are things a young lady will say to her lady friends she would not say to a man. I don't know if this crossdressing business is entirely morally correct'! Prudence living up to her name and also developing a sort of slowburning attraction with Sir Anthony Fenshawe! A++++++++ Heyer.
What's the most enjoyable thing you've done today?
It's 7:58 AM, I have not done much. xD Listened to the Vampire Diaries soundtrack I guess.
What is the one skill you wish you had?
Speaking French. T_T Guys I really want to be bilingual. I could love French if it would just love me back. I don't know if my failitude has to do with French specifically or languages in general. I hope it's the former because then I could always try something else. Arabic! Japanese! Punjabi! Spanish! So many excellent ways of speaking, I want them all.
What is your favorite historical era?
Civil rights era because it was the COOLEST. I love this era so much I went and decided to write it for one of my history exam topics the day before the exam and stayed up till 3 AM reading the civil rights book I had saved on my computer. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Merlin. And also RaPS fandom a tiny bit (who knew Kanye West is the FUNNEST POV character ever? Not I!). But seriously, my greatest obsession at the moment is March Fandom Madness. xD
Cake or Death?
Cake.
What Web sites do you always visit when you go online?
Hotmail, LJ, my favourite blog sites (Comics Worth Reading, What Privilege?, other stuff) and all the LJs I am secretly lurking about in. -is a creepster-
What was the last thing you bought?
Umm last thing I BOUGHT? I don't know. But yesterday I got a free pizza slice because the Raptors scored 101 points in the game on Sunday. =DDDDD Pizza Pizza, ILU and your 100+ points in a hometown Raptors game gets you free pizza policy.
Which fictional character do you think you're most like?
UMM. Hey I have a great idea! Let's have YOU participate F-list, and you can tell me the answer to that question. Okay? =DDDDD
What book do you think everyone should read?.
ONE??? I would like to lodge my protest to this question and note the only reason I am limiting my answer to a single book is because lecture starts in a few minutes.
The Orphan's Tale: In the Night Garden by Catherynne M. Valente (and it's sequel obviously. Hahaha did you really think I'd limit my choice to just a single book even with extenuating circumstances?) Because the prose is absolutely gorgeous and it has illustrations by Michael Kaluta. Because it takes the 1001 Tales format and use it to tell story after story, all nesting inside each other like a beautiful Russian egg. Because she loves monsters and jewels and framing the whole thing is a girl with words tattooed on her eyelids telling stories to a curious prince and both of them growing less lonely in the process. Because I read it over a year ago and it still sticks with me.
Do you get cravings? If so, what do you crave?
ALL THE TIME. Like right now I am dying for some salmon onigiri and fruit. T_T God, I really need to do some grocery shopping.
What is the best place you've ever been?
Oh man, so many places. I think my favourite 'somewhere else' has to be that time we took a bus to Ramses Square in Egypt though that's a little more about the experience than the place. You know what is epically fun? Being in an apartment in Egypt with your mom and deciding you DON'T CARE that your uncle who fluently speaks the language's gone out, you are just going to wing it because there is a city that needs exploring. And finding a bus that says it's going to Ramses Square and being like 'I don't know what/where that is but it sounds fun!' And eventually using your mom's minimal bits of Arabic and the bus driver's bits of English to ask on the way back if he knows any good place to buy groceries. And having him drive you there and wait outside while you shopped and at the end of it all finding out that the whole trip cost less than your AVERAGE TAXI RIDE IN CANADA.
Oh Egypt was so awesome. -gets lost in memories-
What was the last meal you ate?
Two Hazelnut sandwiches for breakfast.
Do you want to learn another language?
YES YES I DO SEE FRENCH ANGST ABOVE.
Six things you can't live without?
I assume we are skipping the obvious essentials like food, water, shelter, yeah? In no particular order:
1) Computer with Internet. I am such an addict guys, my mom once threatened to send me to some camp to break me of it. D= Never happened, thank God.
2) Boooooooks.
3) YOU Flist. YOU. <3
4) RL Flist. =DD Friends are glorious thing.
5) Ummm. Running out of non-essential essential things here. :/ MY MOM'S COOKING.
6) Idk. Music?
Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 54. What is the first sentence of the second paragraph?
Since common verification is a right of an indivisible nation, the representatives of the Third Estate cannot only be the representatives of the Third Estate, of the people, that is, always part of the nation.
Yeeeah. Bernard Manent: Never uses one word when he can use ten!
What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
HI BB, WHAT'S UP, I'MMA SPAM YOU EVEN MORE ABOUT MARCH MADNESS, SORRYBUT NOT REALLY.
What are you looking forward to?
SUMMER. I'M GOING TO FIND EMPLOYMENT AND TAKE ENGLISH AND IT'LL BE GREAT.
Post Justification: I went and read this week's poli sci reading just so I could post again. xD Is it cheating if I deliberately pick my shortest piece of homework because I want to go on lj?
