themadpoker1. High School Musical 3 (January 7) -- 4 stars
To every silly person who told me this wasn't as good as the previous movies I have but one response.
THE BOYS ARE BACK.
2. Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana (January 9) -- 3 stars
Justin Russo WATCHES ANGEL. =DDDDDD I know for certain because I totally rewinded to double check when I saw the DVD case behind him on the essay video segment. So yeah. Fun movie! Could've done with more Russos in the last part though.
3. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (January 21) -- 3.5 stars
Ahahaha, OMG. Disney. Still Queen of the Crowning Moment of Heartwarming. I really should get to watching this show huh? Glad about the reset button since even from my limited exposure to WoWP it is clear that in no rational universe could Justin not win the wizard competition.
Also, what he said. The campfire scene, WHAT. I kind of couldn't believe my eyes.
4. Princess Protection Program (January 23) -- 3 stars
Once upon a time there was a robot princess named Rosalinda. This movie is about how she met her girlfriend Carter Mason and how she gradually learned to act human. And then they become super secret princess rescuing agents. =D
Pretty much adorable is what I am saying. My mom really liked it if you want proof of adorableness.
P.S. Don't watch the movie for the plot. Actually you should probably actively ignore it, just enjoy the Selena the Sullen Teenager and Demi the Robot Princess.
5. Mulan (2009 Chinese live action version, February 6) -- 3.5 stars
Seriously China? FINE. Break my heart. Never even let your two leads kiss. Have him marry the Rouran princess to end the war and be in the capital while she returns home to take care of her father. It's okay, I'm just going to sit here crying for the next ten years.
Beautiful movie though. At least you gave me some gorgeousness to make up for the heart stomping?
6. Saving Face (February 13) -- 4 stars
Wow. I really feel like this handled its mixture of comedy and drama very deftly. Also! Happy endings for everyone! =DDD Wil's mom was my favourite but I was really happy that Wilhelmina and Vivian ended up together at the end. Seriously, I've had enough of my couples breaking up. -snuggles movie-
7. Sherlock Holmes (February 14) -- 4 stars
Also very enjoyable! Action scenes and detectiving and an excellent performance by Rachel McAdams as the clever crossdressing lady thief Irene Adler (who has outwitted Sherlock Holmes roughly 5 times by my count! SWEET). Robert Downey Jr. played to the type with Holmes, I felt some definite similarities to his Ironman performance. But seeing as I liked Holmes nearly as much as I liked Tony Stark I feel this is no issue. And Jude Law was fantastic as Watson, very much the exasperated straight man to Holmes mad genius. I feel like he would have alot to talk about with Pepper Potts. I'll definitely check out the sequel when it comes out in theatres.
8. Shrek (February 18) -- 3 stars
I liked the music in this? =D Look, I had to watch this for school so my opinion of it is coloured by that (generally, HAVING to watch/read something for academic purposes makes me less inclined to like it than I would've if I'd picked it of my own volition). It's a pretty typical story, nothing much extra to enjoy once you've snickered at the fairytale jokes the first time around.
9. Chocolate (Feburary 19) -- 4.5 stars
I knew this was going to be awesome, I did not know it was going to be the GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. =DDDD Oh you're curious? Let me show you the quotes that are displayed upon the DVD case.

As you may have inferred this movie has a lot of really excellent fight scenes. =D Also, did you know the actress did all her own stunts? They scouted a girl with martial arts skills to start with and than she trained two more years before they started shooting. It just adds a little extra layer of AWESOME to the finished product. ^.^ If you're a fan of action movies watch this. You will love it. If you're not a fan of action movies you may love it anyways (I used to think I didn't like action movies. It took many 'exceptions' before I realized that actually I like action movies just fine, I was just monumentally bored with the All Dude Bro Hour. When they put some some ladies in them my interest levels would just magically shoot up!)
10. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (February 20) -- 4 stars
When I checked the filmography section of the extras there was none for Zhang Ziyi. I can only assume this was her debut performance? If so, I think she must have been inundated with roles after this came out because she did a fantastic job. Really good at giving off this intense vibe. Michelle Yeoh gave a strong layered performance as Yu Shu-Lien and I liked Chow Yun Fat's Li Mu-Bei well enough too. I'm kind of surprised that I seem to have been watching a different film from most of the Internet. Searching for reviews, I found most mentioned Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun Fat's romance as the heart of the movie, whereas I thought that Zhang Ziyi's Yù Jiāolóng was the star, with Michelle Yeoh as the co-star, and Chow Yun Fat as a strong secondary character. I felt like the biggest focus was on Zhang Ziyi's quest for freedom and the way she ultimately couldn't attain it in the society she lived in with Michelle Yeoh as a mirror with her own tragic romance. But you know. Your mileage may vary. Either way, check it out! Beautiful cinematography and some nicely cheroegraphed fight scenes await you.
11. Hot Fuzz (February 26) -- 3.5 stars
I'mma let you finish here but Hot Fuzz is the greatest buddy cop movie of all time! Of all time!
12. The Lightning Thief (February 27) -- 1.5 stars
Hahahahaha, oh guys, I can't believe I wasted $10.50 to see this movie.
13. Hero (March 24) -- 3 stars
Oh China. I begin to notice a pattern with your stories of badass ladies, the men who love them and how they can never ever have a happy ending. Don't get me wrong you always do it beautifully but just once I would appreciate a move finishing with two lovers alive and well. Perhaps in my next CMovie!
P.S. The cover is not being entirely truthful with the way it makes it look like Zhang Ziyi is a major co-star. It did succeed in getting me to pick it up and I didn't regret the choice but just be warned!
14. Center Stage (April 4) -- 3 stars
The first entry in my quest to see Everything Zoe Saldana Has Been In Ever! And a fine first entry it was. Zoe was an amazing ballet dancer with ~attitude problems~ who was super loyal to her friend! And idk who played Maureen and Jody but they were great too! Also the dancing, holy wow. I did not know ballet could be so amazingly cool! The final performance was fantastic (and slightly scandalous! When they got to the sex dance my brother was like "they cannot possibly actually be doing that on stage. Maybe it is a dream sequence? One of them imagining things? Seriously, that can't actually be allowed!") and I was super yay at the ending. Good stuff!
15. The Hurt Locker (April 7) -- 5 stars
I was going to give this 4 stars, but I'm still thinking about it and I think the ability to foster thought is worth an extra star. Stunning film, I can see why it swept the Oscars.
16. The Princess and the Frog (April 9) -- 4.5 stars
Absolutely delightful! This movie just made me so straight up happy, I just giggled and smiled my way through. And if tiny Lottie and Tiana weren't the most adorable things you've ever seen well then I want links to whatever is because it will probably explode my head with cute.
