Avatar Season 2 Finale

Okay so! Lots of things happened in this episode. It was pretty great and also I shipped Aang/Katara in my heart for the first time (before I thought Aang's crush was cute! But I did not yet have shippy feelings). BUT. I am just going to talk about Zuko now.

ZUKO WHY DO YOU MAKE ALL THE BAD LIFE DECISIONS?????

The entire scene my brother and I were chanting Azula always lies. Because we knew! We knew Zuko is always one step forward and two steps back! AND YET. ZUKO YOU MAKE THE WORST LIFE CHOICES. THE WORST.

Also I am now SUPER GLAD I am watching this show years after the fact because had I watched it then I would've been tempted to join the fandom and I can already predict the kind of wank that went down in season three. It goes like this: after Zuko has his redemption arc and joins Team Aang Katara will take a long time warming up to him and fandom will exclaim about 'omg why does she hold such a grudge, can't she see he is good now?!?!' totally NEGLECTING THE FACT that she did give him a chance and he threw it away to join AZULA. And then I would have been ANNOYED and it would have been like Bonnie Bennett: The Sequel! Except for it actually being the prequel since Avatar is older than TVD? ANYWAYS I AM GLAD THIS CANNOT HAPPEN NOW.

New show mantra: Zuko always make the WORST LIFE DECISIONS.

I really really want to tell you that you are wrong about what went down fandom-wise in season three but I would be LYING. D:

I still can't see the Katara/Aang. Ever. At all.

I can't say I ship them super strongly? Like I am probably never going to be looking for shippy fic for this show. But I do think they're cute and y'know, there was that one time Katara saw Aang die and rode out on a giant awesome water wave and healed him. (So glad she didn't use the water on Zuko! Because a) omg no his scar is a part of him now and b) I would cry FOREVER if Aang died D=).

Fandom can always be counted on to fail in entirely predictable ways! It is a thing I have learned from experience.
