Does anyone on the flist watch Skins? I checked out the first episode today and was a bit ehh but I did think Cassie seemed rather sweet. Which y’know was good set up for how she proceeded to utterly break my heart in episode 2. I was crying by the end of the episode. ;_; Wow. Think I’m going to keep this show, if nothing else I want to know she turns out okay.

I absolutely LOVE Skins, am a full-blown Generation 1 girl but Gen 2 is pretty amazing as well.

I just thought of the US version because I saw the trailer the other day (and was sad, really really sad) watch more - the show just gets more brilliant.

My fav. chars are Maxxie, Chris, Jal and Sid :D

The US trailer made me cry. It is WORD-FOR-WORD, SCENE-FOR-SCENE the same thing. WTFH. Why remake it at all? Also, it takes place in Baltimore, which is about 30 minutes from where I live. They're going to give my state such a wretched name. Also, I know it's too early to judge, but I HATE their Sid and Cassie. With a passion.

Haha yeah, I generally assume remakes to be inferior to start with. I mean it's not like I've never seen a remake improve on the original -- from what I've heard Korean Playful Kiss is miles ahead of the Japanese and Taiwanese versions in not making the hero a detestable douche -- but US remakes don't tend to be among them. Also I don't see why you would remake something in the same language instead of buying the rights to just air it overseas. Like Japanese to Korean makes sense, you're not going to understand it without subtitles. English to English? Eyebrows raised.

Agreed. Not to mention, with Life On Mars, it actually aired in the US, as far as I know. But people get weirdly attached to them anyway. A girl from the US told me once "I like the US version of LOM better because our Sam is more like the original character than the UK one" UHM WTF?! xD

Yep!! I ADORE Skins (see my excited Michelle icon! =P). I ADORE Cassie. She's not my absolute favorite (Effy takes first place, but she doesn't really factor in until later), but I love her to pieces. Cassie definitely breaks your heart, but she also makes you smile like no one else. She's one terrific character.

It's a patchy show, but at it's best it's brilliant, and stays that way for four seasons.
