1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (January 7) -- 2.5 stars
Best parts were Finn and Rose, worst bit was the entire Poe storyline (I don't know what they were thinking, it honestly felt like character assassination). 2.5 stars
2. Proud Mary (January 19) -- 3 stars
A very solid action movie! Taraji P. Henson gave a great performance and she had awesome chemistry with whoever was playing the kid -- they really sold the developing family bond. Pacing was perfect too, it zipped along without padding, I was pretty hyped leaving the theatre. 3.5 stars
3. Saturday Church (January 24) -- 3.5 stars
Listen, if there's any justice in the world Luka Kain will blow up and like two years from now when he's sweeping the awards circuit I'll be like thanks for catching up non-indie cinema! He's a TREASURE. 3.5 stars
